ABOUT RJR
DISTRIBUTION
RJR Fabrics is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-
quality fabric designed exclusively for
the crafting of quilts and home sewing. RJR specializes in the production of 100% cotton fabrics, brushed
flannels, cotton sateens, and specialty fabrics, including PFD (prepared for dyeing) silk and micro-polyester fleece.
Headquartered in Torrance, California, RJR was formed in 1978 by Robert Cohan and his two sons, James
and Richard. RJR was the result of a long-lived dream of Robert's to create a textile company
to preserve a third-generation tradition in textiles traced back to
1908 with the family's woolen mills in Portland, Oregon.
The company name, RJR, is derived from the first initials of the three founders, Robert, James and
Richard. Richard (Rick) Cohan has served as President and CEO since 1986. After James Cohan's retirement
in 1991,
John Durnell purchased his share of the business and became the Vice President.
